Hi there! I'm Azi.

Azi's profile I am currently a postdoc at Churpek/Afshar lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, division of pulmonary and critical care. I enjoy my role every day working with skillful, passionate, and knowledgeable colleagues. The focus of our research is on identifying patients at risk for clinical deteriorations such as sepsis and acute kidney injury using Electronic Health Record data and machine learning techniques, including natural language processing and deep learning models. Before joining the School of Medicine at UW-Madison, I was at the Center for Precision Medicine Research (CPMR) at Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI) working with and learning from my esteemed fellows. I have received my Ph.D. in Engineering, with minor in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under the guidance of Dr. Zeyun Yu and Dr. Roshan D'Souza. As I follow up on my interests in the field of health informatics and medical data analysis, I am hoping these little steps that we take will improve patient care.
